En.pngAfter "Mobutu, King of Zaïre" and "Congo River" , Thierry Michel pursue his African explorations and brings us to the province of Katanga, in the République Démocratique u Congo; in this new eldorado of modern days, helped with billions, are drawn new economical relations. Among those characters, dizains of thousands of "diggers" are working for their survival handling illegal jobs for mining multinationals when at the same time "legal workers" are fighting for better salaries and work conditions. A governor of this wealthy province, adulated by crowds, a Belgian patron, the real "King of Katanga", a Canadian CEO, some sort of white wizard who is on a mission to save a ruined business, a Chinese businessman who wants to sign the contract of the century with the Congolese State : Thierry Michel's movie's characters are building the  foundations of the new strategies in Africa. We watch them crossing each other's tragi-comedic fate with the background of a social and economic war which is taking a symbolic and prophetic symbol and making "Katanga Business" a realistic and rasping parable of the hopes we have in globalization and its faithful consequencies.

Au Katanga comme à Madagascar, des hommes d'affaires prennent le pouvoir politique. L'enjeu est alors de savoir au profit de qui : ceux qui les ont portés au pouvoir ou les investisseurs.

Toky is just 9. With determination and again ingenuity he makes toy cars for his friends in Ivandry, Madagascar. Bekoto, yes the Mahaleo singer, just opened a blog to share to the world what the farmers have to say. These are the beautiful stories from my countrymen, voices of youth in Africa who deserve to be spread but most of all to be heard by all of us. When surfing on the blogosphere, the forumosphere, the technosphere, I often discover wonderful personalities, talented professionals, great theoricians trained in the best institutions, heroes who learned everything from their adventures in the brousse and many many too many talkative nobodies like you like me. This crowd is hiding thousands of gems ( I am refering to this awesome but shy geek , Mahefa who only opened his mouth when in front of a THB or the ingenious engineer called Meggha) who were already there but hidden behind the top of  iceberg we represent. They are "open for business" waiting for the right timing, they will never get a chance said this banker who only open his door to priviledged people, ahum, trustworthy people. Will it be a crime to give them the keys to a world of opportunities? Why not give them a chance at the next Barcamp somewhere in Madagascar? It was not supposed to be "a place to gather and fool around with abstract notions"as many who weren't even there sais it was. You just have to follow the flow, participate with openess, bring the best of you, share your knowledge and then have fun! Until the next DotMG or Pierre Maury shows up, I will keep on looking for this special specimen : the fearless social entrepreuneur. And I hope he/she has not joined the extensive list of exctincted species or values such as the lemurs or the fihavanana.

 
The Comittee of migrant farmers in Vakinankaratra region was created in 1996. I, Bekoto, work as a social worker fighting for farmers rights and just opened this blog to share with you the realities of everyday lives in the rural Madagascar.

Fr.pngWilliam a son moulin à vent pour produire de l'electricité pour sa maison et ensuite son village est devenu le symbole et un modèle d'inspiration pour la jeunesse africaine qui s'implique.Toky à tout juste 9 ans avec sa détermination et son ingéniosité fabrique des jouets pour ses amis du quartier d'Ivandry. Bekoto, de Mahaleo,  ouvre un blog pour rapporter ce que les paysans lui rapportent. Ce sont des belles histoires de nos enfants d'Afrique qui ne gagneraient qu'à être répandues de part le monde mais surtout écoutées par tous. En surfant sur la blogosphère, la forumosphère et la technosphère, je retrouve notamment d'excellents acteurs, des personnalités de talent, des édificateurs de théories formés dans les plus prestigieuses institutions, de (rares) activistes héros de la brousse, des ambitieux parleurs à réseau limité et toi pis moi. Je reconnais que cette plèbe bavarde cache, tel un iceberg pédant, une foumillière de vrais talents (sans nommer, tiens au pif, Mahery le timide ou Meggha, l'ingénieuse) qui n'attendent qu'un levier pour se lancer dans les "affaires". Mais déjà dans un système qui ne les autorisent qu'à passer par la porte de derrière pour demander des financements et qui privilégiera toujours le piston pour boulonner les réseaux, laisser une ouverture aussi béante serait un crime…Le prochain Barcamp à Madagascar se devrait d'encourager plus de specimens de cette espèce dans ses rangs car Barcamp ne veut pas dire "salon d'exposition de concepts abstraites et codés" oh la la…Ceux qui ont accepté de s'immerger entièrement dans le flow ont tout compris : on a débattu plus que discuté, on a échangé plus que de donner et on s'est bien marré!

Je rappelle ici la présentation extraordinaire de DotMG pour nous livrer Tsipelina Malagasy. La façon la plus Open Source possible de corriger son orthographe et cela royalement livré sur une simple page web. Si vous aviez été présent durant la présentation, Mahefa, pour les intimes, tente de nous convaincre que les heures passées à coder dans le bus et les rush investies aux dépens de moments qu'il pouvait passer avec Smiley, n'ont eu pour seule motivation que la satisfaction de produire un outil indispensable au progrès de la langue malgache. ok. Pierre Maury  avec sa présentation de la Bibliothèque Malgache en ligne a reçu en même temps que les salves d'applaudissement une tournée de critiques sur son travail décidément trop philanthropique au goût de certains dans l'audience, mais nous nous avons bon goût. Dans mon meilleur des mondes violets possibles, ils font partie de cette espèce endémique des Entrepreneurs Sociaux même si les seuls profits qu'ils en tirent sont à 100% morales (voire plus selon le NYTimes). Inutile de questionner sur la perennité de tels projets car dans la chaleur de la salle de l'Ivotel avaient déjà bourgeonné des dizaines et des dizaines d'idées de collaboration, promotions et d'applications de ce qui serait une des bases solides de la technologie malgache (web ou pas web).

Car bien qu'il ne se soient présentés ce jour-là ouvertement (malgré que le café et la connexion soit offerte), beaucoup d'entrepreneurs sociaux potentiels gagneraient à se dévoiler à Madagascar. Pourquoi la martienne tient-elle autant à mettre en lumière notre business? Tout simplement parce que le seul pouvoir de sa propre volonté et de son génie ne suffisent malheureusement pas pour faire progresser un projet innovateur et d'envergure sociale. Tout simplement parce que toute entreprise n'atteint ses objectifs que lorsqu'elle est évaluée et améliorée par la société. Tout simplement parce que dans un pays africain, toute entreprise se doit d'être capitalisée et performante afin de progresser dans le développement.  non je ne me réfère aucunement à l'autre espèce bizarre visiblement en voie de propagation des selfs-made-bizna-men. Je me questionne tout simplement et je réagis (avec un énorme décalage) à nos conversations tenues dans la fin de soirée sur le fait que ce soit seules la jalousie et possessivité entre géniteurs de bonnes idées dans le milieu entrepreuneurial et social malgache qui empêchent les bonnes initiatives de se développer. Dans les prochains mois, je continuerai à spammer/encourager les baroudeurs et les timides qui ont plus qu'un message à passer et ont eu le culot de déballer leurs réussites et leurs échecs sur le web. Mais de l'autre côté du miroir, il ne tient qu'à tout un chacun de supporter et pousser ces génies qu'ils pourraient croiser au travail, dans le bus au détour d'une coopérative d'artisans, devant un kiosque de décodeur de cellphone. Nous avons la matière, nous avons les moyens, pourquoi perdre du temps à mépriser et sous-estimer? La crainte de l'échec importe-t-il autant si l'on n'a jamais goûté à la frénésie du travail bien fait et de la prise de risques? Le partage est une notion qui devrait prévaloir au même rang que le fihavanana. Power of Love, hein Randy?

So there I was making myself comfortable at their fun place when I remembered about the keys to my own corner I left to trustworthy friends with great inspirations and of course high blogging skills (lol).

Why do I always insist on calling Simp first? because the guy is so fun and controversial in his blogging I thought he might bring more trolls to PPC and make this place as dangerous as Amsterdam's Red Light or Tsaralalana for those Indra connaisseurs. But also bc he came up with this fun idea of a little (very little) popularity contest between the writers. Thanks to the wp-post-views plugin maybe you've already noticed that we can ready how many times a post has been viewed by an unique visitor. Since I always wanted things to get a little bit more giving sharing caring alike, I will make a 20$CAN donation to the non-profit the winner will choose.

Why did I invite so few of my (few) friends? I first want you to know that I came up with this guest-blog idea when I was coming short with the posting. Yes this can happen.even at Purple. I asked the first bloggers I had in hands, you know them. The ones always connected from 1 am to 1 am. But I didn't want to extend to the mailing list bc : 1-most of you are already working with me in other projects which require more concentration and seriousness. so I don't want to jeopardize our friendship with another excentrical requests. 2-some of you are Really busy, either you have a phd in astrology to finalize, 4 kids to raise or an awful job.why on earth do I have to bother you more? 3-it was Simp's fault.
