I was raised with Benson Klughing all over the house so I guess my echues with Jazz came from these dayz (and a bit of Tracy Chapman). I sincerely never mock you guyz but I had this uncle...man....he used to be so close to the stage (like Many...) and brought to shame when he was "bbabababarrraabab" so loudly , I just can't bear reminiscing his fondness of Jazz....where was I? at the back of course....hidden somewhere between the exit door and the bar (where I learned a lot about cuba libre...at such young age) hey ! I was wondering when I'll stumble on a jazz-related post throughout my serendipity on the blogosphere ... Younger, I thought that jazz music was for those who wanted to be "different" (well younger, I "only" listened to any kind of "rock" but rockabilly ...fortunately, I grew up :-). Then a pinch of Klugh/Benson, with a slap from Marcus Miller ("the sun don't lie" ... yes, I'm not that old-jazz amateur), mixed with some Urban knights, poured with a cream of Manu Di Bango definitely got me addicted ...well others also contributed to it: Uzeb (or Sixun, what group used to play with Didier Lockwood?) just opened my ears to new beats... Have you ever tried to watch/listen in the dark "an evening with fourplay"...a muse to my ears ... well people may say that those are not pure-jazz (or maybe those are not off-the-beaten tracks jazzmen) as purists may conceive but it doesn't matter ... that's how I deal with my jazz... you surely have your own taste ... So now I see myself as the guy described by the french singer Renaud Séchan in his song "les bobos" (well I don't think I'm a bourgeois but the conclusion of this song is amazingly similar to what I'm living now: I may finally be part of the group that I used to mock long time ago ...how did you say it again Joan? Je n'ai jamais vu des musiciens aussi impressionnants. Sinon jeudi dernier on est allé voir Yael Nahim en live avec <a href="http://vola.ralambo.free.fr/blog/" rel="nofollow">Vola</a>. En plus on était au même niveau qu'elle et à ... même pas 10 mètres d'elle. C'était ... (soupir ^^) Pour ceux qui seraient du côté de la France cet été voici un festival à ne pas manquer : <a href="http://www.rockenseine.com/" rel="nofollow">Rock en Seine</a>. Jetez un petit coup d'œil à la programmation :P Hmmm … alors Marcus Miller il est tout simplement génial en live. Je n’ai jamais vu des musiciens aussi impressionnants. Un son pur, une bonne technicité au service d'un bon feeling... et un gars simple et sympa! De la bonne zik, quoi! A voir absolument s'il passe pas loin de chez vous! …ce qui me rappele un concert mémorable donné par le grand mais surement pas assez connu Jean-Michel Kajdan, lors du dernier MadaJazzcar, il y a quelques mois.
