Le Corbusier had it all wrong : One billion people live in abject poverty. Four billion live in fragile but growing economies. One in seven people live in slum settlements. By 2020 it will be one in three. We don't need to choose between architecture or revolution. What we need is an architectural revolution.The U.N. Millennium Development Goals aim to "achieve improvement in the lives of 100 million slum dwellers by the year 2015." Reaching this goal will require a profoundly new approach to improving the built environment.The Open Architecture Network aims to be just such a catalyst for change.
Un milliard de personnes vivent dans la pauvreté extrême. 4 milliards dépendent de développement économique vulnérable et inconstant. 1/7 de la population mondiale vit dans des bidonvilles. D'ici 2020 ils seront 1/3. Nous n'avons pas à choisir entre architecture et révolution. Ce dont nous avons besoin est de la Révolution architecturale. Les objectifs du Millénaire de l'ONU visent " à améliorer les conditions de vie de 100 millions d'habitants de bidonvilles d'ici 2015". Atteindre cet objectif demande une nouvelle approche et améliorer l'environnement habité. L'Open Architecture Network veut être un catalyste pour le changement.
