Nety gaga mihitsiny ianareo tamin'ilay couverture ny Cyclone Ivan iny sy ny asan'ny FBC. Marina fa vao manomboka fotsiny ny Média Citoyen any Madagascar ka nefa itsika efa fantatra fa mavita zavatra be dia be. Tsy hireha firy makony ny momban'ny Madagascar, draydray aza adino @ Carte afrikana itsika… Nefa itsika gasy ihany no mavita mampitan'ny vaovao sy ny mampiseho ny harena any amitsika fa tsy mila miandry ny avy any ivelany. Fantatro tsara fa tena sarotra tokoa ny fiainana isan'andro dia tsy misy fotoana firy hanaovan'izany "Promotion" izany ka lasa ny professionnels ihany no mavita an'ilay izy. Amin'ny ara touristika dia efa betsaka ny agences sns ka nefa hita fa resin'ireo tourista (vahiny) ireny indraydray ny site web ry zareo. Ny forums, ny sary ao amin'ny Flickr, sns no tena mamarotra tsara ny zavamboary sy ny koltora any antsika. Ary ahona raha ohatra hoe ny olon-tsotra malagasy no mandray anjara. Hitako eto nareo fa ataon'i jogany resaka blaogy indray ity ….  Nefa tsy vitan'ny ara touristika sy koltoraly ihany (betsaka makony ny olona mihevitra fa IO no avenir ny tanana, ok….well…) azo atao koa no mampita ny ekonomia sy ny entrepreunariat. Ny vazaha nefa betsaka no mampiasa an'izany. Tsy dia mila teknika firy, farafarantsiny hoe compte "paypal" sy innovation kely. Fa ny tena ilaina dia ny mampita ny "actions citoyennes", satria aty afrika aty tsy dia mazatra lotra ny manime feo an'ireny olon-tsotra ireny fa tsy maintsy mandalo ny lalana mahazatra. Izy ireny moa dia ny mpanao vaovao professionnels (gazety, radio, sns) ary ny vaovao sasany nia avy amin'ny fanjakana ! Ka ahona moa ny tokony handraisan'tsika an'ireny vaovao ireny (ohatra hoe ito fait divers ito) mikasika ny fiainana andavan-andro. Mikasikan'olon-tsotra, Fiainana andavan-andro, fiainana tsotsotra, nefa fiainana tena izy….

Misaotran'i Pissoa tamin'ilay GlobalVoicesOnline Malagasy, Great J.O.B !!

En.pngWe at FBC have surprised you with our very sponteneous Cyclone Ivan coverage. It is true that Citizen Media is just starting in Madagagascar even if we've already proved our talents. People don't know much about Madagascar. I am convinced that Malagasy people are the best to share their own stories and shouldn't not wait for the diaspora or foreigners. It is true when you live in a tough country that you don't want to waste your time and money blogging or surfing for nothing. This is the reason why only 'professionals' are present on the "promotional" stage with technical skills and  heavy financial support. Most of them are touristical website and blogs because this is by far the most promising sector in Madagascar but they get easily beat by travellers' forums, Flickr albums, etc. guyz, this is not another "pro blog" post … But people are not used to promote their business or entrepreneurial realisations on the web from southern countries. It is not really complicated, a little innovation and a paypal account can do the job. But what is really needed in our countries is a better "citizen actions" coverage, it is no use in Africa to give importance to little people's opinions and initiatives. Traditional media and governemental agencies tend to be the principale sources of news and informations … So from which point of view this kind of news should be treated? Why don't we let people speak for themselves on their reality, on what matters the most : real life…

It wasn’t necessarily revolutionary, but it did show the power of one blogger telling a compelling story to a larger audience – a blogger with a real point of view not content to sit on the sidelines. Thanks Tom

I absolutely agree in terms of needing to hear the news from the “horse’s mouth”. I myself avoid any kind of news content because I don’t feel apt to provide unbiased info – and because sometimes I spontaneously post something… but hey, my sources might not be right. But you’re right. I feel the same way about history books as well…
This said, there is one difficulty with 100% Malagasy content. I completely understand why they’re written as such – to touch those who speak the language, and for some, I suppose it’s also the language they might feel more comfortable in (ma Mz F par exemple if she blogged) and in which they can fully express their points of view and feelings -. But those who don’t speak it can’t read it. In terms of news coverage…
Of course, I absolutely think there needs to be content in Malagasy for the Malagasy. It just depends who your target is I guess.

I’m the worst blogger from the entire blogosphere. I hate writing and translating so much I used to blog in photoshop (how did she do his?). My Malagasy/English/French is so bad nobody hired my to translated GVOGasy posts, to become a writer or cook vegan meals from Bengali recipes….
You will love our favourite FBC writer, she is one of the kind, a very promising english-speaking blogger from Tana, our PROTÉGÉE and Sipakv’s replacement. Don’t worry, she’s ok with leaving her throne to Karenichia’s, ahh royalty…(inside joke be = last time I told the peeps at FBC that we received the royalty of blogosphere , ok they were singing like teens and all but this is what royalty is about…lol)
One funny blogger from Hanoï once told me he’s learning to speak the “ojerxuhwqe” some weird universal language (if someone meets him or his hair please ask him). English is fine and practical but people shouldn’t keep themselves from reading others’ blogs only bc it’s 100% written in Malagasy or in nimportenawak. We should only snob….bad bloggers!

(before I step out to eat and shop for a little food) I hear you. But sometimes it isn’t a question of snobbing another’s blog. For some, reading – or understanding – Malagasy is hard (in my own case, however many hours I use to read a single post, I only come out with a general idea, lose all the subtle details. It’s a language that, as of yet, I still can’t read). And I’m sure I lose some people because they might feel the same way with English. And I link to some French speaking blog and know some of my non-French speaking friends will never hear or understand some of the smart things written there…

This said, I can see how what counts is that we voice certain things. Afterwards…

(going to look at the blog you link now)

(now I’m seriously spamming *sigh*) Please don’t read my comments as criticism, just thoughts from an insane mind! I swear! I admire what the Fokos are doing! I agree: voice voice voice your thoughts! I think you’re fabu(lous)! I love you chica! (in an absolutely non-sexual way) I’m insane, nothing I say is suppose to make sense! I don’t even understand myself! *catching breath* I love you! (oh, I said that already).

…. …. …. for the 10 am post… …. Karenichia is kiscking a*** !!! I knew you would love her ! Btw where are the criticisms? the only thing we should take bad is when you (foolishly) criticize Obama, Brad Pitt and Nathalie Portman….other than that we’re bulletproofed from anything (je pense que les bloggueurs les plus GRAVES sont déjà dans la team , lol)
